Ten ideas for a more positive life

1. Exercise and sleep We all know how good exercise is at making you feel better. A healthy body gives a healthy mind. A healthy mind promotes positive thoughts. Positive thoughts attract positivity. And so before you know it things will be changing for the best quicker than you ever imagined.

2. Only entertain positive thoughts You are what you think, so don’t let those negative thoughts take hold. They suck your energy up and destroy you. Remember, emotions are like waves, we cant control when they come, but we can control which ones to ride.

3. Be around positive people Avoid the atmosphere-hoovers, those people that hoover up any good atmosphere in a room. Positive people give off positive energy. Negative people, moaners, whiners, suck the energy out of the room and out of you, keep away from them.

4. Concentrate on what makes you happy Try writing it down and then getting your list out every time you’re feeling low. To really get some perspective, think of your favourite movie or CD’s, then imagine you could, for whatever reason, never ever see or hear them again! Thinking like that really makes you appreciate what you have to be happy about.

5. The power of now “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” Mahatma Gandhi. The simple fact is, we can’t change the past, we’re not yet at the future, so revel in the now and enjoy every moment. ‘Right now’ is a gift, that’s why its called the present!

6. Be grateful and show gratitude If you’re happiness is all about striving to attain things you don’t have, you will never be happy. Life is about the journey not the destination. Look around you and see all the fantatsic things you already have.

7. Enjoy the anticipation Feed and nourish that one thing that makes you happy, whether its a hobby, a sport, an activity, a project you’ve been promising to do. Throw yourself into whatever it is that makes you smile and just requires you, and you’ll be beaming before you know it.

8. Be positive to others Smile, it’s contagious. Hand out compliments (but make sure they are sincere) and spread good feelings and happiness as you go about your way, a bit like a wake from the bow of a boat, a wake of positivity that follows you were ever you go. Sooner than you think, people will be glad to see you, have you around and you’ll be more popular than you ever were.

9. Be yourself An original is always worth more than a copy. Don’t pretend to be someone you are not. You are unique and like a diamond, your flaws make you beautiful. Celebrate your uniqueness and be proud of it.

10. Don’t stress the small stuff Most of the things we worry about never come off. Many of the things we should worry about will never ever be known to us. Enjoy the moment and stop worrying.
